OXFORD, Ohio ââ'¬" Officially opening the 2014-15 season this weekend, the Miami University men's swimming and diving team hosts Xavier at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 in the Nixon Aquatic Center.
The RedHawks look to improve on last season's fifth-place Mid-American Conference finish. Miami returns 19 swimmers, including 200-yard freestyle relay MAC Champions junior Lucas Brock, sophomore Ross Westrick and junior Jack Strauss. Also highlighting the list of returners is senior breaststroke specialist Evan Bader, who made an Olympic Trial cut in the 200 breaststroke in July. The RedHawks were predicted to finish fifth this season in a preseason poll of the MAC coaches.
The Musketeers opened their season Oct. 4 at the Butler Quad Meet where they finished third of four teams. Xavier recently fell to the University of Louisville Cardinals, 179-78, on Oct. 9. Xavier returns a number of the 2014-15 team that won the team's second straight BIG EAST Championship last February. Miami defeated Xavier last season, 142-113, in the RedHawks' season opener in Oxford.
Saturday's meet will be a co-ed meet with Miami's women's also hosting Xavier.
