Scott Named Miami's New FAR

OXFORD, Ohio--Dr. Ronald B. Scott, the current Miami University Associate Vice President for Institutional Diversity, has been named Miami Athletics’ Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR), replacing Susan Lipnickey, who accepted a new role at Xavier University.
“I’m excited about by the opportunity to be the Faculty Athletics Representative, and looking forward to meeting and working closely with the student athletes, coaches, and administrators in Intercollegiate Athletics,” said Scott.
Ron, who joined Miami in 1988 after receiving his doctorate in communication from the University of Utah, is a tenured associate professor in the Department of Media, Journalism and Film.
He served as a faculty-teaching associate in the Center for Enhancement of Learning and Teaching where he facilitated multiple Faculty Learning Communities for Understanding and Developing an Inclusive Campus Climate. He has presented at national conventions and has published articles on various topics related to diversity, including the forward to Unlikely Allies in the Academy: Women of Color and White Women in Conversation (Routledge, 2012).
Ron has been recognized by Miami as a Distinguished Educator and was given the Effective Educator Award by the Alumni Association. A full time administrator since 2009, Ron continues to teach in his specialty, film and media criticism.
