RedHawks Take on the Eagles

OXFORD, Ohio – Returning to the pool after a two-week layoff, the Miami University men’s swimming and diving team heads to Ypsilanti, Mich., to face the Eastern Michigan Eagles on Saturday, Jan. 31, in the Jones Natatorium at 2 p.m.
The team is back in the pool after their loss to the Bulls on Jan. 16, 168-132, pushing them to 2-3
in dual meets for the season.
Miami is led senior Joe Baumgartner, who was named MAC Swimmer of the Week and Miami Athlete of the Week, for his phenomenal performance against Buffalo. Baumgartner turned in three individual first-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle, 50-yard freestyle, and 100-yard freestyle. Baumgartner also swam a leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay that took first.
Other notable performances were made by junior Davis Staley, who finished first in the 100-yard backstroke. Freshman Peter Simcox was another top finisher for the RedHawks with his second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly. Senior Andy Kilkenny earned points for the team in the 200-yard IM when he turned in a second-place finish.
The RedHawks return to Oxford to host Ball State in the Nixon Aquatic Center on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 1 p.m.
