Senior in Third After Day 1 at Mozart Cup

SALZBURG, Austria--Representing the United States at the Mozart Cup, the Miami University senior synchronized skating team got off to a strong start at the event and sits in third place among the 11-team field after Friday's short program.
Miami compiled a score of 55.34 for its short program to the song “The World is Ours.” The RedHawks received a technical element score of 23.23 and a program component score of 32.11. Les Supremes leads the field after the short program with a score of 64.66, while Rockettes—the defending world bronze medalists—sit in second with a score of 62.16.
The RedHawks hold a 1.07 edge over the fourth-place Crystallettes, the other United States team, who earned a score of 54.27. Crystal (52.49) sits in fifth followed by Team Berlin 1 (51.35), Hot Shivers (46.19), Olympia (36.63), United Angels (35.89), Team Passion (32.78) and Zagreb Snowflakes (29.70).
Miami returns to the ice on Saturday for the free-skate portion of the event which is set to start at 12:45 p.m. (ET).
