RedHawks Defeat Cincinnati, 188-111

CINCINNATI, Ohio—Miami University women’s swim and diving team reclaimed a winning record in dual meets after a 188-111 over the University of Cincinnati on Saturday, Jan. 10 at the Keating Aquatics Center.
Strong swimming by the RedHawks resulted in nine first-place finishes to improve to 3-2 on the season.
Sophomore Stephanie LeMire had another big day, winning the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.62. She also swam a 2:18.74 in the 200-yard breaststroke, earning her another first-place finish. LeMire also competed in the winning 200-yard medley relay with teammates sophomore Brittany Dudzinski, junior Gabrielle Veri and senior Annie Marquiss. They clocked in at 1:46.78.
Freshman Shay Spelman touched the wall in 10:28.68 to earn herself first place in the 1000-yard freestyle. The 50-yard freestyle was won by Marquiss, who swam a time of 24.23. Junior Michele Rielly clocked in at 2:05.78, good enough to earn her a win in the 200-yard backstroke. Veri swam to a first-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly by touching the wall in 58.86. Junior Aubrey Kluth clocked in at 4:32.78 to win the 400-yard IM.
Miami also won the 400-yard freestyle relay with the team of sophomore Elise Campbell, junior Sara Krueger, junior Natalie Rohr and Marquiss by earning a time of 3:30.90
The RedHawks have less than a week to prepare to host a dual meet against Buffalo on Friday, Jan. 16 at noon in the Nixon Aquatic Center.
