Skating Announces Competitive Schedule

2014-15 Synchronized Skating Schedule
OXFORD, Ohio—Miami University’s synchronized skating program announced its 2014-15 competitive schedule today. The RedHawks will compete in six competitions before the U.S. National Championships in March.
All three teams start the season at the annual Dr. Richard Porter Classic in Ann Arbor, Mich., Dec. 6-7.
The senior team takes the ice just over a month later at the Colonial Classic in Lowell, Mass., Jan. 10-11 to begin an action-packed month for the RedHawk skaters. Miami’s collegiate and junior teams return to action the following weekend when they compete in the Mid-America Championships in Fraser, Mich., Jan. 17-18. Representing the United States as Team USA, the senior team takes flight for Salzburg, Austria for the Mozart Cup Jan. 23-24. Miami’s collegiate and junior teams wrap up a full month of competition the following weekend at the Midwestern Championships in Edina, Minn., Jan. 29-31.
In February, the junior team travels to Marlborough, Mass, to compete in the Junior World Qualifier Feb. 6-7 and seeks a berth at the Junior World Challenge Cup with at top-two finish at the qualifier. Should they qualify, the RedHawks would compete at the Junior World Challenge Cup in Zagreb, Croatia March 13-14.
All three teams are in action at the end of February at the U.S. National Championships, which will be held in Providence, R.I., Feb. 26-28. The collegiate team tries for an 11th consecutive national title, while the senior team looks to earn a spot in the ISU World Championships with a top-two finish at the national championships. The World Championships will be held in Hamilton, Ontario April 10-11.
Miami hosts its Family Weekend Exhibition this Saturday (Nov. 15) at Steve “Coach” Cady Arena at 3:15 p.m. All three teams will perform their competitive programs at the event. Admission is free.
