Men’s Swimming Holds Successful Red & White Meet
Red Team edges White Team, 149-142
OXFORD, Ohio -- The men’s swimming and diving teams opened up their season with the Red vs. White Intrasquad meet at the Nixon Aquatic Center on Saturday morning.
There were two swimmers who came away with multiple wins. Junior Sean Neri walked away with two firsts in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke. Junior Evan Bader also ended the day with two first-place finishes in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke. Both Neri and Bader swam for the White Team.
For diving, Red Team member junior Michael Nash dominated both events with a win in the one-meter and three-meter dive.
For the relays, White Team members freshman Pete Simcox, junior Jack Strauss, Neri and Bader won the 400-yard medley relay. Heading into the final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay, the White Team held a two-point lead in the meet. Red Team members senior Joe Baumgartner, freshman Ross Westrick, sophomore Lucas Brock and junior Chris Dieter won the final event to catapult the Red Team ahead, winning the meet by a score of 149-142.
Their first official meet of the season is against Xavier at the Nixon Aquatic center on Saturday, October 18.
