OXFORD, Ohio – For their performances last week sophomore football defensive back Heath Harding and senior field hockey back Ali Froede are Miami’s Athletes of the Week connected by Frontier Communications for the week of Oct. 20-26.
Harding recorded eight tackles and had the lone interception in a 10-3 win over Kent State. Harding was part of a defensive unit that held the Golden Flashes to 285 yards of offense on 67 plays.
This is the first time in his career that Harding has been named Miami’s Male Athlete of the Week.
Froede led the Miami defense and also played a key role in the offense as the RedHawks went 2-0 and outscored their opponents 9-1 last week. The senior defender anchored the defense that held Missouri State scoreless in a 3-0 conference win on Friday as the Bears could only muster three shots, only one on goal, against Froede and the defense. On Senior Day, Froede and the defense held UC Davis to just one goal and just three shots on goal in a dominate win on Sunday. The senior also chipped in on offense by scoring the game-winning goal in each of the team’s games while tallying five shots on goal over the weekend.
This is the first time this season and second time in her career that Froede has been named Miami’s Female Athlete of the Week. She previously earned the honor for the week of Nov. 4-10, 2013.
