CLEVELAND—Sophomore swimmer Stephanie LeMire was named the Mid-American Conference Women’s Swimmer of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. She led the RedHawks in a loss to Purdue on Friday and a dominant 145-102 win over Xavier on Saturday. It is the first MAC weekly award of Lemire’s career.
LeMire was one of only three Miami swimmers to win multiple events against Xavier. In the 100-yard breaststroke, she swam a time of 1:05.16 to place first. LeMire won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.80, touching the wall a second ahead of the next competitor. Her 200-yard freestyle team topped the second-place finishers by over a second and clocked in at 1:36.55.
LeMire was the only RedHawk swimmer to have more than one second-place finish against Purdue. She took second in three individual races, which included the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.09), 200-yard breaststroke (2:19.86) and the 200-yard IM (2:07.25). She was also part of the 200-yard medley relay that finished second with a time of 1:43.48.
The women’s swimming and diving team takes on Ohio State on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. in the Nixon Aquatic Center.
