Listed below is a recap of last week's results as well as a look ahead at this week's games. Enjoy!
Hockey
Last week: The RedHawks, which played in their first outdoor game in program history, split a two-game series against CCHA foe Notre Dame. Third-ranked Miami defeated the twelfth-ranked Irish, 3-1, Friday night in Oxford, as Steven Spinell, Blake Coleman and Marc Hagel found the back of the net (FULL STORY). The 'Hawks then traveled to Chicago to play the second game of the series in the OfficeMax Hockey City Classic Sunday at Soldier Field. MU (19-8-5 overall, 14-6-4-4 CCHA) battled Notre Dame until the very end, but fell just short as it lost, 2-1. Kevin Morris scored Miami's goal (FULL STORY). Click HERE for a photo gallery. This week: The RedHawks travel to play a two-game set against Lake Superior State Friday, Feb. 22 and Saturday, Feb. 23. The first game of the series will be played at 7:35 p.m. while Saturday's game will start at 7:05 p.m.
Men's Basketball
Last week: The RedHawks (8-16, 3-9 MAC) dropped a pair of games to Kent State and Buffalo on Wednesday and Saturday, respectively. Allen Roberts had a team-high 16 points in Miami's 87-70 loss against the Golden Flashes (FULL STORY) and Drew McGhee led the team with 13 points in its 79-71 loss against the Bulls (FULL STORY). This week: Miami plays Southern Illinois in the Ramada Worldwide BracketBuster event Saturday, Feb. 23 in Carbondale, Ill. Game time is 3 p.m. (ET).
Women's Basketball
Last week: The RedHawks (14-10, 6-5 MAC) dropped a hard-fought game against Central Michigan, 72-60, Saturday in Oxford (FULL STORY). Courtney Osborn scored a game-high 19 points and is now only four points shy of breaking Miami's all-time scoring record, which is currently held by Amanda Jackson (2003-08). This week: Miami travels to play Buffalo Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. and then returns home to play Bowling Green for its "Think Pink" game Saturday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m.
Baseball
Last week: The RedHawks opened their season at the First Pitch Invitational in Greenville, S.C. Miami dropped its opener to Northwestern, 8-1, on Friday (FULL STORY) and fell to Furman, 6-5, on Sunday (FULL STORY). Saturday's game against Michigan State was cancelled due to snow. This week: Miami returns to Greenville next weekend for another round of action at the First Pitch Invitational. The RedHawks play Furman Friday, Feb. 22, Western Carolina Saturday, Feb. 23 and Michigan State Sunday, Feb. 24. Click HERE for the team's full schedule.
Softball
Last week: The RedHawks opened their season, playing five games in the Georgia Tech Classic in Atlanta. Miami went 1-4 in games against Indiana, Georgia Tech and Marshall. MU's lone win of the weekend was against Marshall, 8-2, on Saturday (FULL STORY). For complete tournament results click HERE. This week: The RedHawks return to action Friday, Feb. 22, as they travel to play in the Frost Classic in Chattanooga, Tenn. On Friday, Miami takes on Eastern Kentucky at 11 a.m. and Boston College at 3:30 p.m. On Saturday, there will be matchups against Tennessee Tech at 11 a.m. and versus host Chattanooga at 1:15 p.m. Miami concludes the tournament Sunday against Lipscomb at 10 a.m.
Tennis
Last week: The RedHawks defeated Middle Tennessee State, 5-2, on Sunday in Hamilton. Miami used three brand-new doubles pairings to sweep doubles for the first time this season. Chloe Heerden and Christiana Raymond won the first six games enroute to an 8-1 victory at No. 3. Nimisha Mohan and Ana Rajkovic had a similar run, breaking a 1-1 tie by taking five straight games during an 8-2 triumph (FULL STORY). This week: The 'Hawks now play seven straight matches on the road, beginning Tuesday, Feb. 19 at Kentucky. MU then plays Boston University Saturday, Feb. 23 and Yale Sunday, Feb. 24.
Women's Track & Field
Last week: Behind eight top-three finishes, Miami finished third Friday night at the Ball State Quadrangular, held at BSU's Field Sports Building. The RedHawks, who rested several of their top performers in preparation for the MAC meet, totaled 90 points Friday (FULL STORY). All four teams competing were MAC schools, as Western Michigan took first with 181.5 points while Northern Illinois was second (106) and the host Cardinals fourth (87.5). This week: Miami heads to Ypsilanti, Mich. for the 2013 MAC Indoor Championships, hosted by Eastern Michigan University Friday and Saturday, Feb. 22-23.
Men's Track & Field
Last week: Miami began preparations for its outdoor season by competing in its first indoor meet of the year Friday at the Buckeye Tune-Up, hosted by Ohio State at French Field House. The RedHawks posted nine top-five finishes at the indoor meet, one of two indoor meets Miami will compete in as allowed by NCAA rules (FULL STORY). Coming up: The RedHawks are back in action Friday, March 1 when they compete in their second and final indoor meet of the season, which is a dual meet with Cincinnati in Columbus on the campus of Capital University. Miami opens outdoor season March 22-23 at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold Invitational.
Women's Swimming & Diving
Coming Up: Miami, which defeated Ohio in its final regular-season meet Saturday, Feb. 9, returns to action in a week and a half. The RedHawks travel to Buffalo, N.Y. for the 2013 MAC Championship Thursday, Feb. 28 and through Saturday, Mar. 2.
Men's Swimming & Diving
Coming Up: Miami will have a few weeks off before it travels to Carbondale, Ill. for the MAC Championships March 7 through March 9. The swimmers who do not compete at the MACs will stay in Oxford to race in the Ohio Senior Championships March 1 through March 3.
