OXFORD, Ohio—Miami’s women’s swimming and diving team is back in the pool Thursday, Dec. 5 through Saturday, Dec. 7 as they host the 20th Annual Miami Invitational facing off against Illinois, Cincinnati, Denison, Ball State, Wright State, Emory and Urbana in the Nixon Aquatic Center. The invitational begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5.
The RedHawks look to stay hot coming into the invitational at 4-1 on the season and 3-0 in the Mid-American Conference. Miami has won their last four meets with their most recent coming against Ball State on Nov. 8 where they defeated the Cardinals 173-125.
Freshman Elise Campbell, sophomore Aubrey Kluth and senior Nikki Craft led the way for the RedHawks in that one, winning two individual events a piece. Campbell earned 24 points over the course of the meet earning a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay and a second-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay in addition to her two wins coming in the 100 backstroke and the 100 freestyle.
Kluth placed first in the 1000 freestyle and also won the 200 IM. Kluth has won an individual event in four straight meets, with the only exception being Miami’s first contest against Purdue in mid-October where she had a second-place finish in the 200 IM in the RedHawks’ only loss.
Other notable swimmers for the RedHawks this season are junior Katie Bootsma and freshman Stephanie LeMire. Bootsma, like Kluth, has won an event in four straight meets. LeMire had two second-place finishes and contributed to a relay win against Ball State. She has a first-place finish in every meet this season.
