In the third of several blogs, Miami's "Fantastic Five"--Maegan O'Connor (Fishers, IN) , Maddie Kete (Bay Village), Megan Brunn (Mansfield), Leah Thornton (Helena, AL) and Bekka Westrick (Fairfield)--check in from the Olympic Swimming Trials at Omaha, Nebraska.

Hello again from Omaha!!! It's the end of day 3 and man do we have a lot to talk about! To recap, we had two swims yesterday (Tuesday) along with a visit from a former Redhawk and teammate, Allison Way! Leah swam the 100-meter backstroke and Megan swam the 100-meter breastroke.
Leah: "Though I did not necessarily do as well as I had hoped, racing in the Olympic Trials was the experience of a lifetime! I know that having this experience will only teach me more and more about how to stay calm in high-pressure situations. I'm happy to have one race under my belt, and I am already getting excited for my next race, the 200-meter backstroke, on Saturday. After a few technique adjustments and a few days to clear my head, I know that I will be ready to race again with a calm, yet excited, mentality."
Unfortunately Megan had to leave to go back to Dallas today, but we know that she truly appreciated all of the love and support! We will report her final thoughts on her race and the trials in our next blog entry!
Last night we also got the chance to spend time with Allison Way, or A-Way , who was a senior when we were freshman at Miami. It was so nice to spend time with her and catch up.
The last two nights of finals we saw many amazing races, including the women's 100-meter backstroke final in which Katie Bootsma's sister, Rachel Bootsma, got 2nd place and qualified for the Olympic team!
For the next few days we will be relaxing, watching fast swimming, and anxiously awaiting the arrival of Maddie Kete!
