O'Connor Excited About Olympic Trials

OXFORD, Ohio -- MURedHawks.com continues its salute to Miami University's Olympic Trials swimmers today, featuring 100 butterfly specialist Maegan O'Connor (Fishers, IN).
O'Connor had a sensational 2011-12 season, being named first-team All-Mid-American Conference and first-team Academic All-MAC.
At the 2012 MAC Championships, she placed first in the 100 fly, was a member of Miami's runner-up 200 medley relay, placed third with both the 200 and 400 freestyle relay units, finished sixth in the 200 butterfly and earned points for her team by placing 12th in the 100 backstroke.
Four other Miami University women's swimmers--Bekka Westrick (Fairfield), Leah Thornton (Helena, AL), Maddie Kete (Bay Village) and alumnae Megan Brunn (Mansfield)--have also qualified to compete at this summer's Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb. from June 25 through July 2. They join diver Lacey Houser (Danville, IN) who qualified for the 2012 Olympic Trials last summer. She will compete in the 10-meter platform event.
