MEN'S BASKETBALL
Welcome to new head men's basketball coach John Cooper, who was announced as the 23rd head coach in program history on Friday. (RELEASE)
Senior forward Julian Mavunga is one of 64 senior players from across the country who will be showcasing their basketball prowess at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament in Portsmouth, Va., April 11-14. (RELEASE)
WOMEN'S TENNIS
Last Week: Miami (11-9; 6-0 MAC) faced one of its toughest challenges of the season on Saturday head on, rallying for the doubles point en route to a 5-2 victory over Western Michigan at the Hepburn Courts. The RedHawks (11-9, 6-0) have now won 31 straight regular-season matches in league play. (RECAP) Miami rebounded from a loss in doubles to take five of six singles matches Friday afternoon to earn a 5-2 Mid-American Conference tennis victory against Bowling Green. (RECAP) This Week: Miami hosts Northern Illinois in its last home match of the season at 1 p.m. Friday, April 13.
SOFTBALL

Last Week: The RedHawks (23-12; 6-2 MAC) went 4-0 over the weekend, sweeping Akron and Ohio. Two terrific pitching performances highlighted a doubleheader sweep over Akron on Friday. The RedHawks defeated the Zips 4-0 in the opener and 5-0 in the nightcap, allowing only four total hits in each game. (RECAP) Senior Jessica Simpson and Miami won a classic pitcher's duel over Ohio, 1-0, on Saturday. The RedHawks scored their run in the bottom of the seventh inning. (RECAP) Miami seized a dramatic come-from-behind 8-7 victory over Ohio in 11 innings on Sunday. (RECAP) This Week: Miami heads to Morehead State for a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Thursday, April 12 before hosting Ball State in single games on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
BASEBALL
Last Week: The RedHawks went 1-3 this past week, falling to Ohio State on Tuesday before dropping two-of-three contests at Ball State over the weekend. As Miami recognized members of the U.S. Armed Forces on Military Appreciation Day, Ohio State scored early and often to take a 9-2 victory in front of a season-high crowd of 1,146 fans Wednesday night at McKie Field. (RECAP) Ball State parlayed three Miami errors into five unearned runs, lifting the Cardinals to a 7-6 victory Friday afternoon at the Ball Diamond. Junior first baseman Kevin Bower paced a 13-hit attack with four singles. (RECAP) Miami scored three runs in the ninth inning, but it wasn't enough as the RedHawks dropped game two of a Mid-American Conference baseball series to Ball State, 4-3, on Saturday (RECAP) Ryan Brenner had three hits and three other RedHawks added each added a pair, leading Miami to a 9-5 victory over Ball State Sunday afternoon. (RECAP) Earlier in the week, freshman Matt Honchel was named Mid-American Conference East Division Player of Week, the fourth RedHawk to earn a weekly honor this season. (RELEASE) This Week: Miami returns to action on Tuesday and Wednesday when it hosts the fourth annual Joe Nuxhall Classic. Action opens Tuesday at 3 p.m. when Cincinnati meets Wright State at McKie Field. The RedHawks host Xavier at 6:30 that night. The RedHawks will then host Northern Illinois, Apr. 13-15 in MAC play. Friday's game is at 6 p.m., Saturday's game is at 3 p.m. and Sunday's contest will start at 1 p.m.
MEN'S GOLF
Last Week: The Miami University men's golf team shot a final round score of 19-over par 303 on Sunday to finish fourth at the Rutherford Intercollegiate. The RedHawks improved four spots from their second round position for their top finish in a stroke play event this season. Miami finished at 65-over par for the event, 16 shots behind Bowling Green, which won at 49-over par. (RECAP) An early morning frost delayed the start of the Rutherford Intercollegiate Saturday. As a result, while Miami was able to finish, some teams were unable to complete 36 holes before darkness hit. Through the first round, Miami was in eighth place with a team score of 26-over par. It was a tightly bunched competition, as the RedHawks are only nine shots out of the lead, held by George Mason at 17-over par. (RECAP) This Week: Miami travels to Iowa City for the Hawkeye Invitational. The RedHawks will play 36 holes on Saturday, Apr. 14 and finish the tournament with one final round of 18 holes on Sunday, Apr. 15.

MEN'S TRACK & FIELD
Last Week: Behind four individual event wins and a relay victory, Miami's men earned first place at the 27th annual Miami Invitational Friday and Saturday at George Rider Track in the first of three home meets this year. Senior Jordan Goffena won the 110m hurdles and helped the 'Hawks win the 4x400m relay while in field action, junior Sam Wildeman won the pole vault, classmate Reggie Mitchell took first in the long jump and freshman Tyler Yee claimed the javelin. (DAY 1 RECAP) (DAY 2 RECAP) (PHOTO GALLERY) Junior Jarrod Eick also earned MAC Track Athlete of the Week last Monday for his performance in the 5K at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational March 31. (RELEASE) This Week: The RedHawks head to Columbus for the Jesse Owens Classic, hosted by Ohio State April 13-14. Miami then returns home for two consecutive meets - the All-Ohio Championships and the RedHawk Invitational.
WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
Last Week: In the first of three home meets this year, the RedHawk women won the 27th annual Miami Invitational Friday and Saturday at George Rider Track behind three victories on the track and two more in the field events. On Friday, Miami captured the top three spots in the 10,000m run led by redshirt freshman Melissa Girgis in first place. (DAY 1 RECAP) On Saturday, Miami took the top three spots in the 3K steeplechase as freshman Elisa Frazier was victorious while the 'Hawks also won the 4x100m relay, senior Alexandra Roberts captured the shot put with the second-best throw in school history behind her own school record and classmate Diona Graves, who ran on the 4x100m relay team, won the long jump. ICE HOCKEY
The awards continued to roll in for Miami's hockey team last week as junior forward Reilly Smith was named a First-Team West All-American Friday by the American Hockey Coaches Association, marking the ninth straight year a RedHawk has been tabbed All-America. (RELEASE) Senior goalie Cody Reichard was also honored for his work with his Swoop's Stoop foundation as he won the Giant Steps Award in the community organization category, the National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS) also announced Friday, which is part of the NCAS' National STUDENT-Athlete Day. (RELEASE) Five seniors also signed professional contracts last week as defenseman Will Weber signed with the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets (RELEASE), goalie Connor Knapp signed with the NHL's Buffalo Sabres (RELEASE) and goalie Cody Reichard and forwards Alden Hirschfeld and Trent Vogelhuber all inked deals with either American Hockey League or ECHL teams. WOMEN'S SOCCER
Last Week: Miami continued its spring season with an exhibition contest at Northern Kentucky, as the RedHawks fell, 3-0, on Wednesday. (RECAP) Miami opened its spring season with a loss at Louisville March 31, 3-1. (RECAP) This Week: Miami returns to the pitch Tuesday when it travels to Lexington, Ky. for an exhibition match against the Kentucky Wildcats at 7 p.m. The RedHawks also host Wright State in spring action Saturday at 1 p.m.
Five Miami University women's swimmers and two RedHawk divers have been named to the 30-person 2012 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team. Miami's seven first-teamers were more than any other MAC institution. (RELEASE)
