CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Miami University softball team dropped its final game at the Under Armour Showcase to Boston University, 2-1, on Sunday. The RedHawks fall to 11-9 overall, while the Terriers improve to 9-5.

The game remained scoreless until Miami struck first in the top of the fourth inning. With two outs, Bree Lipscomb singled through the left side and was pinch-run for by Brandi Hernandez. A single by Shanyn McIntyre would move Hernandez all the way to third. Megan Mattera would then drive her home with a single to right field.

Paige Myers held Boston University off the board until the bottom of the sixth inning. With two outs, back-to-back singles would put runners on second and third base. Jessica Simpson came in to relieve Myers, but a wild pitch would bring the tying run home.

In the bottom of the seventh, Simpson quickly retired the first two batters. A single, a walk and a wild pitch would put runners on second and third base. The next batter hit an infield single to shortstop which would bring Kayla Kruper home and give the Terriers a 2-1 win.

Kristy Arbour was Miami's top hitter on Sunday, finishing 3-for-4. McIntyre was 2-for-3. Myers allowed one earned run on four hits in 5.2 innings.

After 20 games on the road, the RedHawks return home next weekend for their annual Miami Invitational. Six teams will play a total of 11 games next Friday through Sunday. Miami will take part in four of those contests, beginning on Friday when it hosts Niagara at 3 p.m. and Dayton at 5 p.m.
