Miami University's senior and collegiate teams return to the ice this weekend at the Mid-America Championships. Although it is a small field for the senior team, this is a good tune-up for the RedHawks before heading to their international competition at the French Cup Feb. 2-4. This weekend, the RedHawk collegiate team faces seven of the teams that they saw at the Dr. Porter Classic in their season opening competition.
Miami's senior team is coming off a first-place finish among the seven-team field at the Dr. Porter Classic in early December. The RedHawks notched a first-place finish in the short program with their program set to the music of Blue Suede Shoes. Miami placed second in the free skate with its Gypsy-themed program but was able to hold onto its first place standing in the combined results.
The collegiate team had a dominant performance at the Dr. Porter Classic, winning by more than an 11-point margin to their program choreographed to music by Beyonce.
