OXFORD, Ohio -- Miami University and the Oxford Chamber of Commerce want to start each weekend with "Make it Red" Fridays encouraging all faculty, staff, students and the community to wear red to show their community and school pride.
"What better day than a Friday to celebrate Miami's recent national recognitions and the great community of Oxford," said Miami President David Hodge.
"Make it Red" Fridays begin this week, Friday, Sept. 23, and extend through the year.
"We want to paint the town red with community spirit," said Carol Dockum, president of the Oxford Chamber. "What an impression we can make on Fridays when a large number of visitors - albeit prospective students and families, potential residents or new business prospects - are on campus and in the community."
Miami's Associated Student Government (ASG) also will join in the effort and encourage students to wear their Miami red each Friday.
"Miami and the Oxford community is where we make life-long friends and work toward life goals," said Nick Huber, ASG president. "Wearing red on Fridays is a great way to show the outside world the special bond that we all hold so close to our hearts as Miamians."
