2011-12 Women's Swimming and Diving Schedule
OXFORD, Ohio - Eight home events highlight Miami's 2011-12 Women's Swimming and Diving schedule, which includes 10 dual meets, the 18th Annual Miami Invitational and the 32nd annual Mid-American Conference Championships.
The RedHawks, who finished third in the MAC in 2011, will face six conference opponents and four non-conference rivals. The out-of-conference portion of the schedule features familiar foes in Purdue, Xavier, Kenyon and Cincinnati, all of whom Miami has competed against in each of the last three years.
"We have a very competitive schedule," head coach Dave Jennings said. "Purdue is always in the top four of the Big Ten and this year we have a lot of new teams coming to the Miami Invitational. It should be a very good meet."
Last year, Miami posted a 9-2 record, losing only to Purdue and eventual MAC Champion, Ohio. The Red and White also won the Miami Invitational for the fifth-consecutive year.
"It's going to be an exciting year," Jennings said. "With this being an Olympic year, our focus is not only on the MAC and NCAA Championships, but also on the Olympic Trials. We have a number of athletes who have a chance to get trial cuts."
The RedHawks open the season with the annual Red & White Intrasquad meet Saturday, Oct. 1 at 10 a.m. at the Nixon Aquatic Center. The first regular-season competition is Friday, Oct. 21 at 5 p.m. against Purdue in Oxford.
