Tennis Routs Northern Illinois for Fifth Straight Win

DeKALB, Ill. -- Miami won all nine of its matches Friday, routing Northern Illinois 7-0 for its 22nd straight Mid-American Conference victory. The win moves the two-time defending conference champions to 14-5 overall and 5-0 in league play.

Miami captured the doubles point on the heels of wins by the No. 3 duo of Cara Wald and Anastasia Dracheva at No. 3 (8-1) and Stephanie Danesis and Megan Martzolf at No. 1 (8-3). Riekie Honiball and Jessica Parr completed the sweep, taking a tough 9-7 decision at No. 2. The win improved their record to 10-1 this season.

Martzolf added to the lead with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 3, while Wald posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 6. Dracheva sealed the team's victory with a 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 2. Danesis (7-6, 6-1 at No. 1), Nimisha Mohan (7-5, 6-1 at No. 4) and Riekie Honiball (4-6, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5) completed the sweep.

Miami returns to action next Saturday with a 1 p.m. match against Ball State.
