OXFORD, Ohio - Kyle Weldon's three runs batted in led Miami back to .500 on the season with a come-from-behind 6-1 win over Big Ten opponent Indiana Tuesday night at McKie Field. The RedHawks fell behind in the fifth inning, but scored six unanswered runs in the seventh and eighth innings to take the victory.

Miami (14-14) defeated its former coach, Tracy Smith, for the fourth straight time and handed Indiana (18-10) just its third loss in its last 10 games.

Miami starter Alex Brown cruised through the first four innings, giving up just two hits while walking two and striking out four, but ran into trouble in the fifth inning, walking the leadoff batter, T.C. Knipp, and allowing the second hitter, Michael Basil, to reach on an error. Brown threw wildly to first on Basil's sacrifice attempt, putting runners on second and third.

Shawn Marquardt relieved Brown and struck out the side to pitch the RedHawks out of trouble, allowing just one of his inherited runners to score on a straight steal of home.

Miami rallied back in the seventh inning with three runs on just one hit. Bryce Redeker started it off with a single to shallow left field. Adam Weisenburger's bunt attempt in the next at bat was misplayed as the Indiana catcher threw past the first baseman, sending the Miami base runners to second and third. Weldon brought the tying run home with a groundout to second.

Indiana pitcher Matt Carr entered the game in relief and intentionally walked pinch hitter Marcus Makuch the hit Ryan Kaup to load the bases. Carr then plunked Brad Gschwind to drive in the Miami go ahead run. Jon Edgington added to the lead with a sacrifice fly in foul territory behind first base that allowed the speedy Ryan Brenner, who pinch ran for Makuch, to race home for the 3-1 lead.

The RedHawks added three more in the bottom of the eighth on a two-run single to center by Weldon and another bases loaded hit by pitch to Gschwind.

Marquardt (2-4) earned his second win of the season, pitching five shutout innings with three hits and five strikeouts. Brown's line ended at four innings pitched with one unearned run, two hits, three walks and four strikeouts.

Next up for Miami is a trip to Columbus to take on Ohio State on Wednesday at 6:35 p.m.
