CLEVELAND - The Mid-American Conference announced its 2010-11 Men's Swimming and Diving Academic All-MAC team Tuesday (Apr. 12), as voted on by faculty athletic representatives at MAC institutions, and two of the 14 first-team selections were Miami RedHawks.
Seniors John Eick (Auburn, AL) and Jason Hass (Jackson, MI) were chosen among the MAC's elite, while Alex Reinhardt (Littleton, CO), Kegan Rogers (Libertyville, IL), Trevor Tilly (Rochester Hills, MI) and Sam Childs (Palatine, IL) earned honorable mention.
Eick, a 3.86 Pre-Med major at Miami, was a team captain in 2010-11 and a member of the Dean's List. He earned his fourth varsity letter this past season.
Hass, a 3.32 Business Finance major, earned Outstanding Senior honors at the recent MAC meet. He placed among the top eight in three different individual events and in three relay events, winning second-team All-MAC honors.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50% of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
