OXFORD, Ohio -- Cold and wet conditions have forced the postponement of tonight's Miami Baseball game against Xavier. The game will be made up April 20 at 6 p.m. at McKie Field.
The Oxford area was hit with snow showers for much of the day and the forecast called for temperatures around 40, so Miami Coach Dan Simonds and Xavier Coach Scott Goggins agreed to wait for warmer weather.
The RedHawks will return to the field this weekend for a Mid-American Conference series against Ball State. Miami is 12-12 overall, but leads the East Division after a sweep of West Division favorite Central Michigan. Ball State (4-17 overall) took two out of three from Ohio last weekend to start its MAC schedule.
Game times for the series are set for 6 p.m. on Friday, 3 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. The Saturday game has been designated Buddy Schultz Day, honoring the 40th anniversary of the RedHawk pitcher's NCAA-record 26-strikeout performance against Wright State.
