HAMILTON, Ohio--After capturing an exciting doubles point, Miami University's women's tennis team rolled to a 6-1 win over the Eastern Michigan University Eagles on Saturday afternoon. The win was the 19th consecutive regular-season Mid-American Conference triumph for the RedHawks.

Miami improves to 11-5 on the season and 2-0 in MAC play, while the Eagles drop to 8-8 overall and 1-1 in league action.

Miami fell behind in doubles when Megan Martzolf and Stephanie Danesis, ranked No. 66 in the nation, were clipped 8-6 in the first flight by Miriam Westering and Nino Mebuke. Anastasia Dracheva and Cara Wald scored the final five points against Mariya Toncheva and Marcela Rivero to win at No. 3 doubles, 8-4. The doubles point came down to a battle in the second flight as Riekie Honiball and Jessica Parr hammered out a 9-7 win over Georiga de'Lisle-Tar and Xu Chang for the RedHawks to collect the doubles point.

The RedHawks won five of the six singles matches against the Eagles. Dracheva cruised at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Westerink. Danesis collected a win at No. 2 doubles as Mebuke suffered an injury during the first set and could not finish the match. Danesis was leading in the opening set 5-4.

Nimisha Mohan clinched the match for the RedHawks with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles over Rivero.

Honiball defeated Toncheva in the fourth flight 6-3, 6-3 for Miami's fifth point. Wald lost her first set at No. 6 singles 6-2 but came back with a 6-2 win in the second set to force a tiebreaker. She opened up a 5-1 lead in the tiebreaker but was unable to finish it off, falling 10-6.

After being clipped 7-6 in the opening set at No. 3 singles, Martzolf dominated the second set 6-1. Martzolf posted a decisive 10-4 win in the tiebreaker for the RedHawks' sixth and final point of the match.

Miami begins a three-match road stretch next weekend when the RedHawks travel to Bowling Green (April 1) and Western Michigan (April 2). Both matches are set for 1 p.m.
