OXFORD, Ohio -- Men's swimming and diving's Jason Hass (Jackson, MI) has been an outstanding representative for Miami University during his four years in Oxford, and Saturday night Mid-American Conference coaches boosted his reputation even more by naming him as the MAC's Outstanding Senior.
RedHawk teammate Kegan Rogers presented the award to Hass, an honor given to one senior in the conference who has excelled athletically and academically and who has demonstrated exceptional character.
In addition to receiving the Outstanding Senior Award last week, Hass also was chosen as a second-team member of the All-MAC squad. He placed fifth in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:49.66, finished sixth in the 200 individual medley finals (1:52.36), and wound up eighth in the 100 butterfly (49.86).
The graduate of Ann Arbor Pioneer High School has compiled a 3.32 grade-point average in his challenging major of mechanical engineering.
Other RedHawks who earned special honors MAC Diver of the Year JIMMY BERES (Columbus) and MAC Diving Coach of the Year KONGRONG LI. Beres, Brendan Melling (Solon) and Alex Reinhardt (Littleton, CO) were first-team All-MAC honorees.
