The win tonight was head coach Charlie Coles' 250th at Miami. His career record is 250-198 with the RedHawks and 342-282 overall.

Sophomore guard Allen Roberts scored a career-high 23 points on 8-for-11 shooting. He hit 3-for-4 from behind the arc.

Junior forward Julian Mavunga tied a career-high with 12 rebounds. He also had 17 points for his third double-double of the season and ninth of his career.

The 84 points Miami scored Wednesday was the fifth time this season the RedHawks have scored more than 80 in a game.

The Red and White had five players score in double figures against NIU on Wednesday with Roberts (23), Mavunga (17), Nick Winbush (14), Orlando Williams (13) and Chris McHenry (12) all reaching that mark. The last time that happened for Miami was Dec. 11 against Troy.

The RedHawks outrebounded Northern Illinois, 37-27, for the game. Miami has only been outboarded once during MAC play this season. Miami scored 44 points in the first half, a season-high for an opening stanza. The RedHawks highest scoring half of the season so far is 50 points in the second half of the Ball State game on Feb. 1.

After scoring another 40 points in the second half, the RedHawks have now scored 40 or more points in 11 different halves this season.

The RedHawks opened the game hitting their three point shots. Miami was 4-for-5 from behind the arc in the first six minutes of the contest to take a 14-3 lead.

Roberts had a first-half season-high 15 points to lead the RedHawks. It was the second straight time Roberts led Miami with double figures as he scored 12 in the first half against Eastern Michigan on Saturday. It was the third time this season he scored double figures in the first half as he had 10 points in the season opener against Towson, Nov. 12.

Miami shot 57 percent in the first half. It was the 13th half this season that Miami shot better than 50 percent. It was also the fifth time in the last six games that the RedHawks were above 50 percent in the first half.

The RedHawks finished the game with 10 three-pointers. It is the third-straight game and sixth time this season that the Red and White have hit for 10 or more from behind the arc.
