February 16, 2011
Millett Hall - Oxford, Ohio
This was the third overtime game of the season for Miami. The RedHawks are now 2-1 in overtime games this year and 67-43 all-time in overtime games.
It was the second straight Millett Hall overtime game between Miami and Kent State. Last season, the RedHawks defeated the Golden Flashes 55-53 in an extra session. All-time Miami is 5-1 in overtime games against Kent State.
Nick Winbush tied his career-high with 26 points against the Golden Flashes. He previously hit 26 against Kentucky on Nov. 16, 2009. Winbush also had 12 rebounds (one off of his career-high) for his fourth double-double of the season and sixth of his career.
Winbush also set a season-high for a half with 16 points in the first half. He got that on 5-for-8 shooting, including 2-for-5 from behind the arc and a perfect 4-for-4 from the line. He also had seven rebounds and three blocks during the frame. His career-high for a half is 18 points. He set that twice last season, in the first half against Kentucky on Nov. 16, 2009 and again in the second-half vs. New Mexico on Nov. 22, 2009.
Winbush's 26 points was his second 20-point effort of the season and the 11th by a RedHawk in 2010-11.
Julian Mavunga scored 17 points and set a new career-high with 17 rebounds. It was his fourth double-double of the season and third in the last six games. He now has 10 career double-doubles.
Allen Roberts set new career-highs with six rebounds and 45 minutes played. He also tied a career-high with two blocks, recording them in the first eight minutes of the game.
Josh Sewell set a career high with 38 minutes played.
With Winbush (26), Mavunga (17), Roberts (16), Williams (14) and Sewell (11) each finishing in double-figures, it was the third time this season the RedHawks had five players score 10 or more points. It was the 10th time this season the RedHawks had at least four players do that in the same game.
After falling behind 46-33 at the 14:01 mark, Miami went on a 14-0 run over the next 4:25 to take its first lead since it was 6-5.
