WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Last Week: In its only game of the week, Miami (8-3) downed the Northeastern Huskies, 75-55, Monday night at Millett Hall in a game that never saw the RedHawks trailing. Junior forward Kirsten Olowinski led the way for the RedHawks with her fifth double-double in the past six games, finishing with 19 points and 12 rebounds as Miami won its fourth straight game. (RECAP) Congrats to senior guard Maggie Boyer, who topped 1,000 points for her career during the game, as she became the 20th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points. This Week: The RedHawks look to round out an undefeated five-game home stretch Wednesday, Dec. 28 when they host Chicago State at 7 p.m. at Millett Hall.
Last Monday, junior guard Courtney Osborn was named Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week after averaging 25.0 points per game in wins over Wright State and Cincinnati. (RELEASE) Her performance also earned her MAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Week on Thursday. (RELEASE)
Freshman Brian Sullivan averaged 13.0 ppg last week. |
MEN'S BASKETBALL
Last Week: The RedHawks (3-7) dropped a pair of non-conference contests to Evansville and No. 2 Ohio State. On Tuesday, Miami came up on the short end of an exciting back and forth second half at Millett Hall as Evansville edged the 'Hawks, 77-75. Freshman guard Brian Sullivan scored a career-high 18 points and four RedHawks scored in double figures, but it was not enough to overcome the Purple Aces' 76-percent field goal percentage in the second half. (RECAP) Just two nights later, senior forward Julian Mavunga scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, but No. 2 Ohio State used a big second half and took advantage of 18 Miami turnovers to pull away for a 69-40 win Thursday night at Nationwide Arena. (RECAP) (PHOTO GALLERY) This Week: The RedHawks welcome William & Mary to Millett Hall Thursday, Dec. 29 at 7 p.m.
