Miami vs. Wright State Postgame Notes
December 10, 2011
Senior forward Julian Mavunga amassed his 18th career double-double shortly into the second half. Mavunga finished with 19 points and 16 rebounds. It is his 11th double-double in Miami's last 19 games and his fourth this season.
Miami opened up a 9-1 lead to start the game off a trio of 3-pointers by senior forward Julian Mavunga, freshman guard Will Sullivan and sophomore guard Josh Sewell.
Wright State posted its first three points off free throws. The Raiders hit their first field goal at the 11:56 mark of the first half.
AJ Pacher collected seven of the Raiders' first eight points as they closed within 11-8 of the RedHawks early in the contest.
Wright State used an 8-0 run starting at 8:43 of the first half to take its first lead of the game, 16-15 off a Reggie Arceneaux 3-pointer with 4:27 remaining.
Miami did not hit a field goal from 10:31 in the first half until Julian Mavunga's layup and ensuing free throw with 1:49 left in the first half. The RedHawks were scoreless from 9:38 off a pair of senior forward Julian Mavunga free throws until he hit a pair of free throws with 3:20 remaining in the first half.
The RedHawks incurred a similar field goal drought in the second half, going from the 19:14 mark until 11:43 left in the game without a field goal. Miami scored five points off free throws during that stretch, with its largest deficit at seven points (34-27 at 14:44).
In his second appearance of the season following a knee injury that kept him out the first five games of the season, junior center Vince Legarza made his second career start and first of the season. Legarza's other start for the Red and White came at Kent State on Jan. 23, 2011.
