FOOTBALL
Last Week: Miami (3-5, 2-2 MAC) earned is first homecoming victory since 2007 - 41-13 over Buffalo -- with an outstanding performance on both sides of the ball. The offense posted its most points in four years, seeing Zac Dysert tie a school record with five touchdown passes. Meanwhile, after allowing two first-quarter scores, the defense rebounded by shutting out the Bulls over the final 45 minutes including a dramatic four-play goal line stand. (RECAP) This Week: After the win, Miami immediately turned its attention to its next opponent, Akron, as the Zips invade Yager Stadium for a 7:30 p.m. contest Thursday night on ESPNU.
WOMEN'S TENNIS
Last Week: Tennis wrapped up the fall portion of its 2011-12 schedule by competing at Vanderbilt's June Stewart Invitational. The successful weekend was capped off on Sunday with six of the eight RedHawks winning matches. Included in that total was sophomore Nimisha Mohan, who won the championship of her draw in three sets. (RECAP) This Week: The team is done competing for the fall. The dual match season kicks off Jan. 14 with a return trip to Vanderbilt.
FIELD HOCKEY
Last Week: Miami (6-14, 4-6 MAC) fell in its regular-season finale, 2-0, on the road at Missouri State on Saturday. (RELEASE) This Week: Miami is the fifth seed in the MAC Tournament and will take on fourth seed Ball State Thursday at 11 a.m. in Athens, Ohio.
WOMEN'S SWIMMING

Leah Thornton, Courtney Collett, Kayla Scott, Maegan O'Connor and Bekka Westrick all were victorious twice for the RedHawks. Chelsey Bruington also captured a first-place finish. In addition, Miami's 200 medley relay--Thornton, Katie Arlinghaus, Westrick and Maddie Kete--and 400 freestyle relay--Westrick, Cynthia Donovan, Bruington and Kete--both took firsts, though the second relay had to be swam as an exhibition. (RECAP) This Week: Miami continues MAC play when it swims at Toledo on Friday.
MEN'S SWIMMING
Last Week: Miami's men's swimming and diving team got first-place finishes from diver Jimmy Beres, Anderson Whipp and Brendan Melling but fell in dual meet action at Purdue, 170-127. Coach Pete Lindsay's RedHawks (2-2) competed well against the Big Ten's Boilermakers, but Purdue's depth ultimately proved to be the difference. Whipp returned to his native state of Indiana and came away a winner, tying for first place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.92. He also placed third in the 200 individual medley. Melling nipped his Purdue competitor in the 200 breaststroke by six-one-hundredths of a second, touching the wall in a time of 2:11.77. (RECAP) This Week: Miami is idle this week. Its next meet is Friday, Nov. 11 at 5 p.m. when it hosts the Ohio State Buckeyes at the Nixon Aquatic Center.
MEN'S GOLF

Ben Peacock was the top individual for the RedHawks, shooting a two-over par 74 to tie for 15th individually. (RECAP) Congratulations are in order for former Miami University golf standout Nathan Sutherland ('11). He advanced through the first qualifying stage of Q-School, the qualification process to earn a PGA Tour Card. Playing at the Wanamaker Course qualifier, Sutherland fired a final round of 67 to finish at nine-under par 279 and in a tie for 10th place. He opened with a 70 in the first round and followed with a 69 and a 73 before carding his low round of the qualifier.
