FOOTBALL
Last Week: Toledo scored three first-quarter touchdowns and added two more in the second period, cruising to a 49-28 Mid-American Conference victory over Miami (2-5; 1-2 MAC) last Saturday night at the Glass Bowl. Junior quarterback Zac Dysert passed for 333 yards, completing 24-of-37 attempts--including a 71-yard pass--while freshman wide receiver Dawan Scott hauled in seven catches for 140 yards and sophomore wide receiver Nick Harwell posted his fifth 100-yard receiving performance in six games with 101 yards on five catches. (RECAP) This Week: The RedHawks return home for two straight game, beginning with Homecoming Weekend when Miami hosts Buffalo at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29. (HOMECOMING EVENTS)
WOMEN'S SOCCER
Last Week: Splitting a pair of games last week, Miami (9-8-0; 4-6-0 MAC) remains in the hunt for a berth in the MAC Tournament quarterfinals on Sunday. Junior Jess Kodiak scored twice to lead the RedHawks to a 3-0 win over Northern Illinois Friday afternoon at the Miami Soccer Field. (RECAP) On Sunday Miami fell to Western Michigan 2-0, unable to overcome a pair of goals in the first half. (RECAP) Sophomore Katy Dolesh was also named Co-MAC Offensive Player of the Week. This Week: Miami will play its final game of the regular season on Thursday when it plays host to Bowling Green at 3 p.m. Miami needs a win to secure a spot in the MAC Tournament, which starts Sunday, Oct. 30.
MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Last Week: The Miami men's cross country team was idle last week. This Week: The RedHawks will be competing in the MAC Championships Saturday, Oct. 29 in Muncie, Ind.
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Last Week: The Miami women's cross country team was idle last week. This Week: Miami will be looking to win its third MAC title in four years when the RedHawks run at the MAC Championships Saturday, Oct. 29 in Muncie, Ind.
ICE HOCKEY
Last Week: Miami (2-3-1; 0-2-0 CCHA) lost its CCHA opener for the first time since 2006-07 on Friday, falling to the Ferris State Bulldogs by a score of 4-2. Freshman Austin Czarnik and senior Trent Vogelhuber tallied goals for Miami in the losing effort. (RECAP) On Saturday the RedHawks also lost in a physical game that ended 2-0. (RECAP) This Week: Miami returns home this week, facing Lake Superior State on Thursday, Oct. 27 and Friday, Oct. 28. Puck drop for both games will be at 7:35 at the Goggin Ice Arena.
FIELD HOCKEY
Last Week: Miami (6-13; 4-5 MAC) had a full week last week, hosting three games. On Tuesday the RedHawks fell to Ohio State by a score of 2-1, with Amanda Seeley scoring the lone Miami goal (RECAP). Miami faced league-leading Ohio on Saturday and lost a thrilling 1-0 game that saw spectacular defense on both sides (RECAP). On Sunday, Miami won a high scoring affair against Kent State by a score of 6-5, including three goals in the first 10 minutes. Six different RedHawks scored goals, with Seeley notching the game winner (RECAP). This Week: Miami travels to Missouri State for its regular season finale on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 11 a.m.
VOLLEYBALL
Last Week: Miami (12-12; 3-7 MAC) faced two MAC foes this past week, falling to both Ball State and Toledo. On Friday the RedHawks travelled to Muncie, Ind. to take on the MAC-leading Ball State Cardinals and fell 1-3 (RECAP). The next day the RedHawks faced the Rockets in Toledo, but squandered a 2-0 lead in the match to fall 2-3 (RECAP). This Week: The RedHawks are home for two games this week: a match against Kent State on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. and a match against Ohio on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 3:30 p.m.
GOLF
Last Week: Miami finished the Georgetown Intercollegiate in tenth place with a final round score of 318 on Tuesday and a 63-over par for the tournament. Juniors Ben Peacock and Brett Tomfohrde both tied for the best finished RedHawk with total scores of 228. (RECAP) This Week: Miami heads to Kiawah Island, S.C. for its fall finale at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate, Oct. 30-Nov. 1.
MEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING
Last Week: The Miami men's swimming and diving team improved to 2-1 on the season with a 156-106 win over Xavier on Saturday. Dan Nemeth and Chris Gunnels each won two individual races and one relay to lead the RedHawks to victory. (RECAP) This Week: The RedHawks travel to West Lafayette, Ind. to take on Purdue on Friday, Oct. 28 at 5:00.
WOMEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING
Last Week: Miami (1-1) fell to Purdue on Friday, 175-117, in its first meet of the season. The lone victorious RedHawk, Nikki Craft, won the one-meter dive with a score of 253.20. (RECAP) The women also swam against Xavier on Saturday, and they also posted an impressive win by a score of 169-85. Four swimmers for the RedHawks each won two races, while freshman Katie Bootsma, Courtney Collett and Amy Trace all won their first race as a RedHawk. (RECAP) This Week: Miami is on the road this week to face off against Akron on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 1:00.
HawkTawk will be broadcast from Miami's hockey game, beginning at 6 p.m. due to the game versus Lake Superior State that tips off at 7:35 p.m. To hear the show, tune in to these Miami IMG Sports Network affiliates: WKBV and WMOH.
