OXFORD, Ohio--A 12-point, second-half flurry put Miami University's women's basketball team within two points of Eastern Michigan, but it was not enough as the Eagles posted a 72-62 win at Millett Hall on Saturday afternoon.

Kirsten Olowinski posted a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 17 rebounds, while Maggie Boyer paced the RedHawks with 19 points and Courtney Osborn tallied 16 points and six rebounds.

Eastern Michigan was led by Tavelyn James' 24 points.

Miami drops to 10-11 overall and 2-6 in Mid-American Conference play, while Eastern Michigan improves 15-7 overall and 6-2 in MAC action.

Maggie Boyer hit a 3-pointer at the 11:43 mark to give the RedHawks a 14-11 advantage in the first half. After Olowinski knotted the game, 16-16, on a pair of free throws at 7:42, EMU's Tavelyn James opened a 10-1 Eagle run by scoring eight points off back-to-back treys and a layup to spur them to a 26-16 lead by the 5:55 mark.

Miami closed within six of EMU twice, the first at 4:40 off a pair of Boyer free throws and then with 23 seconds left off a Boyer trey. EMU sunk a pair of free throws with five second remaining in the opening half to carry a 39-31 lead into the locker room at the half.

The Eagles led by as many as 16 in the second half and were up 14 with 11:51 to play, 56-42, when the RedHawks went on a 12-0 run to close the gap to two points, 56-54, with 6:54 to play. Osborn had five points during the surge, while Kirsten Olowinski ignited the rally with three free throws. EMU scored its first basket in nearly five minutes to halt the run with a layup with 5:53 to play.

Eastern Michigan extended its lead to six points at 5:13, but a Lillian Pitts fastbreak layup at 4:30 cut the Eagle lead to four, 60-56. Miami would get as close as five down the stretch before the Eagles pulled out the 10-point win.

Miami returns to action hosting Central Michigan at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 2.
