Hollowell Named Don Loss Award Winner

OXFORD, Ohio -- Randy Hollowell has been named the 2010-11 Red & White Club Don Loss Volunteer of the Year winner. Hollowell is known for his helpful demeanor and for his willingness to assist. He has played a key role in assisting the Blue Line Club, and the Red & White Club, with his leadership, in special events, communication and messaging to fans.
"Randy has been a valued member of the Miami Family and Oxford Community for years," said Miami University Director of Athletics Brad Bates. "He has been very involved in actively supporting our student-athletes through his generosity and time. We are very pleased to honor Randy and to thank him for his commitment to Miami University and Miami Athletics."
Hollowell serves as a play-by-play announcer for Miami baseball for internet broadcasts at home games, has attended Alumni Weekend and has been a season ticket holder for football, basketball and hockey. He is a member of the Blue Line Club Board, twice serving as president. He also assists periodically with game day operations as a back-up public address announcer for hockey, football, basketball and soccer.
Hollowell has been associated with Miami Universi¬ty since 1991. He works for the University in its IT Department and is the Senior Communications & Web Coordinator, serving in that capacity since 2003. Hollowell and his family, wife Chris and son Reece, are residents of Oxford.
The Don Loss Award is presented to a member of the Miami University Red & White Club in recognition of his/her dedicated service. This award is given annually in memory of Don Loss, a 1951 graduate of Miami University and former Red & White Club Board member, whose loving support for Miami Athletics helped lay the groundwork for the Red & White Club today. Hollowell will be honored during the men's basketball game vs. Western Michigan on Saturday, Jan. 29.
