RedHawks Achieve Success in Classroom During Fall 2010 Semester

OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami Athletic Department concluded another successful semester in the classroom, finishing with a combined grade point average of 3.08. It was the 12th straight semester that the athletic department had an overall GPA above 3.00.
"Our student athletes use their education as the basis of their future success," said Athletic Director Brad Bates. "It shows that even with all our success on the field, our students are scholars who work equally as hard in the classroom towards earning one of the greatest degrees in the world."
Overall, 12 of the department's 18 athletic programs had team GPAs above 3.00 for the Fall 2010 semester. The women's cross country team led the way with a 3.51 GPA, followed by the tennis team (3.47 GPA), the women's swimming and diving team (3.43 GPA) and the men's cross country team (3.43 GPA). A total of 288 individual athletes had GPAs of 3.00 or better last semester, while 15 had perfect 4.00 GPAs.
