Reilly Smith scored a short-handed goal in the first period. The last time Miami scored a shorthanded goal was Nov. 27, 2010 when Justin Vaive scored at Western Michigan.
Miami tallied two short-handed goals in the game (Smith and Alden Hirschfeld). This is the first time Miami has scored twice on the penalty kill in one game since Wingels and Miele did it against Western Michigan on Nov. 20, 2009.
Patrick Tiesling recorded his first career goal. It came against his former team and former roommate, BG goaltender Nick Eno.

This win extends the RedHawks' winning streak over Bowling Green to ten straight, Miami's longest current winning streak versus any CCHA team. Miami has won 17-of-18 over the Falcons.
The last time the RedHawks won by 4 or more goals was a 5-1 victory over Western Michigan on Nov. 27, 2010.
Andy Miele's three assists bring his season total to 26, the most in the nation.
With the win tonight, Cody Reichard moves into sole possession of 4th place on the career wins list for Miami goalies with 37 victories.
Curtis McKenzie tallied the game-winner, his first goal in 16 games.
Pat Cannone scored his ninth goal of the season in his first game as a captain.
Miami's nine penalty kills Friday (a perfect 9-for-9) marked a season high for kills. The previous best was eight against Notre Dame Dec. 4.
Miami is now 11-1-0 when scoring four or more goals in a game.
The RedHawks faced former Miami player and assistant coach Chris Bergeron ('93), now Bowling Green's head coach. Falcon assistant coach Barry Schutte ('97) is another former Miami player.
