While hockey is off to the Frozen Four this week, there is no shortage of home events for the RedHawks' spring sports as baseball, softball, men's and women's track and field and tennis all host home events this weekend along with the spring football game on Saturday.

Good luck to the hockey team as the RedHawks head to the Frozen Four this week at Ford Field in Detroit, facing Boston College at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday in the national semifinals, which will be televised on ESPN2. A win against the Eagles would send the RedHawks to their second-straight national championship game at 7 p.m. on Saturday, which will be televised on ESPN. Tonight fans are invited to a send-off pep rally for the hockey team at 6 p.m. in the Uptown Park. If there are poor weather conditions, the pep rally will be moved to Brick Street Bar and Grill. (RELEASE) Travel packages for students (RELEASE) and fans (RELEASE) are available. Note that space is limited and reservations will be on a first-come, first-serve basis and that game tickets are NOT included in the travel packages. Additionally, head coach Enrico Blasi signed a new contract agreement through the 2016-17 season. (RELEASE)
Women's tennis (10-5; 3-0 MAC) extended its streak of regular-season Mid-American Conference wins to 12 with a 6-1 triumph at Northern Illinois on Saturday. (RECAP) After sweeping through doubles, Miami won five of six in singles action. Junior Megan Martzolf remains undefeated in singles action during the spring, posting a 15-0 mark at No. 3 singles. Miami hosts Louisville at 1 p.m. Friday in its final home match of the season before continuing MAC play at Ball State at noon on Saturday.

Softball (14-14; 1-1 MAC) had a near-perfect week. The RedHawks swept a home doubleheader against Dayton on Thursday before splitting their conference opening weekend at Ball State. Miami's offense erupted for 20 runs in two games to help make short work of Dayton. Both games were ended early due to the run-rule advantage. The RedHawks took the first game 8-0 in six innings, and won the nightcap 12-0 in five innings. (RECAP) On Saturday, Miami shutout Ball State 5-0 and was propelled by a Meghan Mawn seventh-inning grand slam. (RECAP) Ball State scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh Sunday to take a 4-3 victory. (RECAP) Miami travels to Eastern Kentucky for a doubleheader on Tuesday and hosts Eastern Michigan on Friday in a 1 p.m. doubleheader before entertaining Central Michigan for single games on Saturday and Sunday. Game time Saturday is set for 2 p.m. and Sunday's game is slated for 1 p.m.

Baseball (11-15; 1-5 MAC) had a strong start to the week with a 16-3 win against Dayton at home on Wednesday. (RECAP) Senior left fielder Zak Hatfield and junior right fielder Adam Eaton combined for three home runs and 11 RBI in the winning effort against the Flyers. The RedHawks, however, lost all three games of their weekend series at Ball State. Miami dropped a 6-3 decision on Friday (RECAP), staged a late rally but fell 11-7 on Saturday (RECAP) and suffered a 17-8 loss Sunday. (RECAP) The RedHawks head to Xavier for a 3 p.m. game on Tuesday before hosting Northern Illinois in a three-game series this weekend. Game times are set for 6 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
Congratulations to junior Kelley Miller, who was tabbed the MAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week last week. (RELEASE) Senior Amanda Mirochna earned first place in the 3000m steeplechase and headlined the women's track and field performances at the Tiger Track Classic, hosted by Auburn University on Saturday, as six RedHawks posted top-five finishes. The men's track and field team finished in third place among the 16-team field at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational, hosted by the University of Cincinnati on Saturday. Miami earned 12 top-five finishes, including a one-two finish in the long jump by freshmen Reggie Mitchell and John Cantwell. (RECAP)
The RedHawk men's and women's track and field teams host the Miami Invitational this weekend. The hammer throw will be contested at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and events on Saturday begin at 11 a.m. Tickets are $3 for youth (under 18) and $5 for adults.
Golf finished seventh at the Irish Creek Collegiate over the weekend. Junior Nathan Sutherland paced the RedHawks with a one-under-par-212 to finish in sixth place at the tournament. (RECAP) The RedHawks return to action April 10-11 at the UK Bluegrass Classic.
Football concludes its spring practices this weekend with the annual spring game, which takes place at 1 p.m. Saturday at Yager Stadium. Fans can reserve their season tickets at the spring game, or by calling 1-866-MUHAWKS.
Prior to the spring game, Miami University's Athletic Department will sell new and used athletic clothing and gear. The sale begins at 8 a.m. and remains open until approximately 12:15 p.m. Purchases must be paid only by cash or personal check. Payment by credit or debit cards is NOT available. Miami equipment coordinator Darrell Hallberg will sell hundreds of different pieces, including brand new footballs, duffle bags, shoes and clothing. Also on sale will be a wide variety of authentic game-used jerseys, both recent and vintage, plus shirts, shorts, shoes and more.

Volleyball and field hockey both hosted spring exhibition games last weekend and are in action again this weekend. Volleyball is in action against IPFW, Grand Valley State, Michigan and Toledo in Rolling Prairie, Ind., at the Dunes Collegiate Invitational. Field hockey plays games against Indiana, Missouri State, Michigan State and Bellarmine at Louisville Saturday and Sunday. Women's soccer also is back in action with a spring exhibition game at Youngstown State on Saturday.
On a sad note, Miami Athletics lost a supporter and friend last week with the passing of long-time former sports information director Dave Young. (RELEASE) Marilyn Young and the Young Family, along with Miami University, will host a special "Dave Young Memorial Celebration" on Saturday, April 24 at McKie Field at Hayden Park at 2 p.m. The event will include words from the Young Family, as well as some of Dave's closest friends. The Celebration will precede Miami's home baseball game on the 24th at 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers and for those interested, the family has asked that contributions be made to the Dave Young Memorial Fund for Athletics at Miami University. Checks can be made payable to Miami University, including the name of the fund in the memo portion, and sent to Miami University, 725 E. Chestnut Street, Oxford, OH 45056.
