OXFORD, Ohio - The softball team had a tough time figuring out Central Michigan pitcher Kari Seddon Saturday in a 1-0 loss at the Miami Softball Stadium. The RedHawks fall to 18-16 overall and 3-2 in the Mid-American Conference. The Chippewas improve to 17-11 overall and 4-3 in the MAC.
Miami was held to one hit during the contest, a third inning single by Meghan Mawn. The RedHawks did show patience at the plate, drawing six walks.
Jessica Simpson nearly matched Seddon throughout the game for Miami. While she did give up nine hits, she was able to settle down and get the outs before a run would score. The big blow came in the sixth inning, when with runners on first and second, a double by Amanda Patrick scored the game's only run. Simpson finished the game with one earned run, while striking out seven.
The RedHawks will look to split the weekend series when they host Central Michigan Sunday for a 1 p.m. game.
