Senior Guard Kenny Hayes
On the importance of a win: "We had to get some momentum going into the tournament, whether we end up with a bye or not. Buffalo played us really well up there, and it was at a time where we hadn't clicked yet on either end of the court. We played a ton better tonight and we just have to bring that with us in our next game."
On lengthy final minute: "The coaches told us coming in, `They aren't going to quit. They could be down 40 but they won't quit.'"
On possibly his final game in Millett Hall: "Millett is great and it's hard to believe that if we get the bye, I won't be back in here except for practice. I have so many great memories here. My first game here we beat Xavier. I wish I had one more year."
Sophomore Forward Julian Mavunga
On defending Mitchell Watt: "He got going in the first half with some wide-open looks. Good teams play help defense, great teams recover. We really did a good job of limiting him in the second half."
On senior Adam Fletcher: "Fletch is a warrior. He's persevered through a lot here at Miami. What he brings to our team doesn't always show up in the stat sheet. He's our heart and soul."
On bench production: "We really took a step forward tonight. Rodney (Haddix) and Kramer (Soderberg) were huge and gave us some great minutes. We need that to continue."
Head Coach Charlie Coles
"Our biggest concern was falling behind early. We've done that against Buffalo the last couple of years so our emphasis was to not let them establish a lead. They're an efficient team and not one you can come back against easily."
On Kramer Soderberg's production: "Kramer gave us a huge lift off the bench. I would love to play him and Kenny together more often. Sometimes things get stagnant if I take Kenny out, but with them in together, Kramer seems to really be able to do some things for us."
On the next game: "I'm going to prepare as if we are the five seed. I'll watch Toledo and get ready to play them, and if we don't, no harm, no foul."
