OXFORD, Ohio-Miami University's women's tennis team downed Bowling Green on Saturday afternoon, 5-2, to win its 11th straight regular-season Mid-American Conference match. The RedHawks improve to 9-5 on the season and 2-0 in MAC action, while the Falcons drop to 11-4 overall and 1-1 in league play.

The RedHawks took the doubles point after junior Cara Wald and sophomore Riekie Honiball posted a sound 8-2 win in the second flight, while junior Megan Martzolf and sophomore Stephanie Danesis gutted out an impressive 8-6 win at No. 1 singles. Martzolf/Danesis trailed 3-1 early but came back to take a 4-3 lead. After a 4-4 tie, the duo pushed ahead 7-4, but the Falcons pulled within one 7-6. Martzolf/Danesis won the final point to secure the doubles point for the RedHawks as the Falcons won the third flight 8-4.

The RedHawks to a 2-0 lead in the match with Honiball's 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles. Miami increased its lead with Martzolf's win in the third flight. Martzolf posted a dominant 6-0 win in the first set but suffered a 6-2 loss in the second set before again producing a solid 6-0 win in the third set to improve to 14-0 on the season at No 3 singles.

Bowling Green's win at No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-2 put the score at 3-1 in favor of the RedHawks, but Wald's 6-2, 6-2 win in the fifth flight secured the match for the RedHawks. Junior Sydnee Bridger accounted for the RedHawks' fifth point with a 7-5, 2-6 (10-7) win.

Miami hits the road for the remainder of the MAC season beginning with a match at Northern Illinois on April 3. After a match at Ball State on April 10, Miami hosts Louisville in a non-conference tilt in its final home match of the season.
