Miami University sophomore Cameron Horner (Columbus) placed 28th among 35 divers in the one-meter diving competition Friday afternoon at the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships in Columbus. (Friday's complete results are listed below.)
Horner now readies himself for Saturday afternoon's three-meter diving competition.
The following is Horner's observation from Friday.

Plans went a little haywire this morning when central Ohio was bombarded with a freak snow shower last night. Though the weather piece of this weekend's puzzle was removed, we reconstructed our plans. With a quick change of schedule, we hit the road and headed for the pool.
Entering the pool (Panera bags in hand), I was atwitter with butterflies and nerves. The pool was decorated to the extreme with NCAA banners, flags, and apparel. Black curtains lined the deck, holding rowdy swimmers inside the waiting areas like bulls ready to burst from their pen.
After the hour long warm up, the competition began. In the blink of an eye, prelims were over. Though there are things I knew I needed to improve on, I was very happy with how I finished overall.
I collected my belongings and looked up into the stands to see the entire diving team wearing customized "M Diving" t-shirts they had made, screaming and cheering me on. I saw my family right by their sides, smiles covering their faces. I was overwhelmed with the support I had coming from my mini fan base! Throughout the day I received many, many congratulations and comments of encouragement from a bunch of members of the swimming team, as well as other teams from MU.
I have one more day to represent the rest of my team, and school. I am so proud to be a piece of the Love and Honor puzzle, and can't wait to represent Miami in one more event of the 2010 NCAA Championships.
