RedHawk Men's Divers Prepare for Zone Competition

OXFORD, Ohio - A quartet of Miami University men's divers will travel to Purdue University's Boilermaker Aquatic Center from March 12-14 for the 2010 NCAA Zone C Diving Meet.
Three-meter competition for both men and women will take place on Friday afternoon, with the one-meter event occurring on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore JIMMY BERES (Columbus), the Mid-American Conference's reigning one-meter champ and the MAC Diver of the Year, leads the way for the RedHawks. He placed third in the MAC's three-meter competition last weekend. Beres's best scores this year are 360.37 in the one-meter (vs. SIU) and 378.15 in the three-meter (vs. Ohio State).
Sophomore Cameron Horner (Columbus), who placed ninth in both the one- and three-meter competition at the MACs, looks to improve upon last weekend's effort. His score of 366.44 against Cincinnati in the one-meter event is his best tally in 2009-10. Horner also has the team's best score this year in the three-meter (384.75 against Ohio State).
Freshman Chris Hoppler (Germantown, MD) placed second last week in the three-meter event and sixth in the one meter. His best scores this season are 302.40 at one meter and 347.30 at three meters.
A second RedHawk freshman, Mike Grainger (Cincinnati), placed fifth in the three-meter event and seventh at one meter. His best scores this season are 318.80 (one meter) and 344.15 (three meters).
KongRong Li, the MAC's Diving Coach of the Year, and Head Coach Pete Lindsay will accompany their divers to West Lafayette.
Zone C includes divers from Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. The top four men's divers from Zone C will automatically advance to the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at Ohio State University.
