Red & White Club Board Adds Four

OXFORD, Ohio-The Red & White Club, the official membership organization that supports Miami University Athletics' annual scholarship needs, has added four new members to its Board of Directors - Sandy Hart '82, Ben Huffman'01, Brandon Murphy '07 and Tom Schmitt '88.
The purpose of the Red & White Club Board is to provide input, feedback and support for Miami University Athletic fundraising initiatives.
"We have an enthusiastic and committed group on the Board who has dedicated countless hours to Miami athletics" said Scott Phillipps, current president. "The talent and diversity of the Board is a tremendous asset, as well. I've never been more excited about our ability to make a difference in the lives of our incredible student-athletes at Miami."
Sandy Hart '82 is a 2003 inductee into the Miami Athletic Hall of Fame for her exceptional volleyball career (1978-1982). Hart is also serving a term on Miami's Volleyball Alumnae Board. She is currently the Director of Account Management for Humana and resides in Cincinnati with her husband, David, and two daughters. Her family is also hosting another 'daughter' this school year - an exchange student from Germany.
Ben Huffman '01 grew close to Miami Athletics as a student-manager for the men's basketball team. After graduation, Huffman worked for the Alumni Association as an Assistant Director for Chapters and Athletic Events. He is currently the Director of Sports Marketing for the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau. He lives in Mason.
Brandon Murphy '07 wore number twenty-four as a running back for the RedHawk football team. Murphy captained the 2007 squad and also served on RedHawk Council's (student-athlete advisory committee) executive committee. Murphy went on to pursue a graduate degree, and is currently a Sales Representative for Kraft Foods. Originally from Strongsville, Murphy now lives in Cincinnati.
Tom Schmitt '88 is a former Miami student-athlete, earning letters for football from 1985-1987. Schmitt currently works for Allstate Insurance Company as a Cincinnati/Dayton Distribution Leader & Principal. He lives in the Dayton area.
Other members of the RWC Board include: Scott Phillipps '90 (President), Wendy Chambers '85 (Vice President), Jae Eson '79 (Secretary), Brent Bader '81 (Past President), Monique Abbitt '91, Renee DeGraff '84, Lil Fesperman '78, Walter Frank '59, Steve Gentle '93, Dick Grushon '56, Terry Hunt '62, Laura Janssen '87, Cal Murray '03, Mary Ann Myers '82, Ken Peters, Len Phillipps '63, John Strawser '86 and Tom Walsh '83. Terms of service are four years in duration.
Active membership in the Red & White Club begins at $100 each year. Gifts to the Red & White Club go directly into the Red & White Club Scholarship Fund, which annually provides scholarship assistance to varsity sports programs at Miami.
