MUNCIE, Ind. -- Senior DAVE BROWN (Lake Orion, MI) and freshman Alex Reinhardt (Littleton, CO) posted two wins apiece to lead Miami's men's swimming team past Ball State, 140-97.
Coach Pete Lindsay's RedHawks victory in Muncie improved their overall record to 4-6-1 and their Mid-American Conference mark to 2-3-1.
Brown, the team's top freestyle sprinter, captured first-place finishes in both the 100 and the 200 freestyle events. Reinhardt won the freestyle distance races, touching the wall first in both the 500 and the 1000.
Two Miami freshmen--MICHAEL GRAINGER (Cincinnati, OH) and Chris Hoppler (Germantown, MD)--also captured first-place in both diving events. Grainger won the one-meter event and Hoppler posted the top score in the three-meter.
Junior Jason Hass (Jackson, Mich.) took first place in the 200 butterfly and junior DARRIN SMITH (Bossier City, LA) won the 200 backstroke.
Miami now has four weeks to prepare for the MAC championship meet in Ypsilanti on March 4-6.
