OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University's swimming and diving team will face Ball State this Saturday in Muncie, Indiana. Miami is the nation's top-ranked Mid-Major squad and hopes to increase its record after coming off last weekend's win against rival Eastern Michigan University.
This Saturday (February 6th), the RedHawks face the Cardinals as they continue their way to the MAC Championship meet, which will be held at Miami February 24-27. This season, Miami holds a 7-4 record and is 4-2 against MAC Conference teams.
Head Coach Dave Jennings says, "Ball State is always a challenging place to swim and dive. The Cardinals will certainly be ready for Miami this weekend. Every MAC team has to be fighting to the end of the meet. It should be fun!"
In conference meets, Miami has been victorious over teams such as Eastern Michigan University, Buffalo, Akron and Bowling Green. Swimmers with top times include junior Kelsey Vehr (Cincinnati), was the top winner at the RedHawks meet last week. Vehr finished first in the 100 and 200 breaststroke.
Other top Miami scorers include senior diver Kelsey Anagnos (St. Louis, MO) who won the one-meter diving event and placed second in the three meter last week, and freshman Bekka Westrick (Fairfield), who earned the top spot in the 50 freestyle.
Last week in Indianapolis, Ball State scored four dual wins in a five-team meet, posting 833 points to top Youngstown State, Eastern Illinois, Valparaiso and Butler.
This Saturday at 4 p.m., Miami swims in Muncie against Ball State.
