Miami vs. Cincinnati
Miami Men's Basketball Post-Game Notes
Tuesday, December 21, 2010
Oxford, Ohio - Millett Hall

- Cincinnati played in Oxford for the first time since Feb. 1, 1993 when the Bearcats knocked off Miami, 74-68 in overtime. With UC's victory tonight, the Bearcats have now won 12 straight over Miami and remain undefeated in 2010-11 at 11-0. The 'Hawks still lead the all-time series with UC when playing in Oxford however, 34-33.

- The Bearcats scored the first six points of the game Tuesday as Miami's first field goal didn't come until 3:15 into the contest on a 3-pointer from junior forward Julian Mavunga. The 'Hawks answered with a 12-4 run however to take a 12-10 lead, their first of the game, with 11:54 remaining.

- Miami started the game 5-of-7 from 3-point land, including senior forward Nick Winbush who started 3-for-4. The RedHawks finished the first half 5-for-11 from behind the arc while Winbush was 3-for-6 (he didn't attempt one in the second half). The five triples in the first 20 minutes tied a first half season high, as Miami went 5-for-10 in the first half from deep vs. Green Bay Nov. 21. After starting 5-for-7 from distance, Miami finished the game 1-for-13, including 1-for- 9 in the second half to end at 6-for-20 for the game from the beyond the arc.

- In the first half, the Bearcats controlled the offensive glass, grabbing eight offensive rebounds to one Miami offensive board. UC turned those into six second-chance points while the 'Hawks had one second-chance point. Cincinnati also held a 20-15 edge in the boards overall in the opening period. The second half was similar as the Bearcats held an 8-4 edge on the offensive glass and finished the game with a 40-27 advantage overall in rebounds and 16-5 on the offensive glass. UC turned those offensive boards into 15 second-chance points; Miami had five for the game.

- Miami led 27-23 with 6:23 to play in the opening period after a jumper by freshman guard Quinten Rollins but the Bearcats held Miami without a field goal the final 6:22 of the first half and used a 15-1 run to take a 35-28 lead into the locker room.

- Freshman guard Quinten Rollins tallied a career-high five assists, topping his previous career high of four in the season opener against Towson. He also went a career-best 4-for-4 from the free throw line.

- Senior forward Nick Winbush led Miami in scoring for the fourth time this year as he had 11 points, nine coming in the first half. He has now reached double figures eight times this year. Winbush was 3-for-6 from behind the arc in the game, as he has at least one made 3-pointer in every game this year and has multiple 3-pointers in eight games with the three Tuesday night tying a season high.

- Senior guard/forward Antonio Ballard reached double figures in scoring for the sixth straight game with 10 points and has scored at least 10 points in eight of his 10 games this season.
