Although it was a relatively slow week in Miami Athletics as students were busy with final exams and only two teams played, Miami student-athletes found success both academically and athletically over the weekend.

Thirteen Miami student-athletes received their bachelor's degree on Friday, Dec. 17 as they participated in Miami University's 2010 Fall Semester Commencement at Millett Hall. (RELEASE) Congrats to all those who graduated!

On the court, the women's basketball team (7-3) won its sixth straight game Sunday as junior Rachael Hencke led five RedHawks in double figures as Miami cruised to a 77-61 victory over Northeastern on the road. (RECAP) With the win, head coach Maria Fantanarosa earned her 200th career victory as a head coach! The RedHawks remain on the road in Massachusetts as they face UMass at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in their only game this week.
Congratulations to sophomore guard Courtney Osborn who was named both MAC East Player of the Week last Monday (RELEASE) and MAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Week on Friday (RELEASE) after recording three 20+-point games in three wins.
The men's basketball team (5-6) played just once last week as well, as Miami fell behind early and never recovered in a 66-51 loss at Wright State Saturday night. (RECAP) Junior forward Julian Mavunga led the way for the `Hawks with 17 points and seven rebounds. The men's team has just one game this week as well, hosting rival Cincinnati Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Millett Hall to round out play against local foes.
With the Bearcats coming into Millett Hall for the first time in nearly two decades, fans can choose from one of two ticket packages to be sure to get in on the action. The Miami Rivalry Package, which includes a ticket to the Feb. 1 game vs. Ball State is available for just $39.95, while the Miami Pride Package, which includes a ticket to the Jan. 29 game vs. Western Michigan, a hot dog and a drink at both games and a Miami baseball cap is available for $45. Call the Miami Athletic Ticket office at 513-529-HAWK to purchase a ticket package for Tuesday's game.
Congratulations to Julian Mavunga for being named Co-MAC East Player of the Week last Monday as he averaged 16.5 ppg and shot 73.3 percent in a pair of wins. (RELEASE)

In football news, Miami announced that defensive backs coach Lance Guidry was named interim head coach and will lead the RedHawks in the GoDaddy.com Bowl against Middle Tennessee State after Michael
