OXFORD, Ohio -- Duquesne took control from the start and never looked back as the Dukes collected a 91-65 win over Miami University's women's basketball team on Wednesday afternoon at Millett Hall.
Miami drops to 1-3 on the season, while Duquesne improves to 2-1.
Duquesne jumped out to a 12-0 lead to open the game. Freshman guard Haley Robertson halted the Dukes' run, knocking down a jumper at the 16:40 mark to ignite a 7-0 RedHawk run. A pair of Courtney Osborn free throws at the 10-minute mark pulled the RedHawks within three points, 16-13, and a Hannah Robertson 3-pointer at 7:35 again put Miami within three of the Dukes, 22-19.
Duquesne, however, built its lead to double digits, 35-23, by the 3:47 mark off a 13-4 flurry. Over the final 2:46 of the opening half, Duquesne outscored Miami 12-5 to hand the Dukes a 20-point lead heading into the locker room at the half, 47-27.
The Dukes continued to surge in the second half, extending their lead to 33 points in the first three minutes, 64-31. Duquesne again held a 33-point advantage at the 16-minute mark, 66-33.Miami used an 11-5 run, spurred by four points from freshman guard Hannah Robertson and five points from junior guard Rachael Hencke, to cut the gap to 25 points with 11:33 remaining, 69-44.
A 6-0 Miami run that included four points from Hencke further shrunk the gap to 22 points with 7:35 to play, 76-54. Miami would get no closer as the Dukes rolled to the 26-point win.
Hannah Robertson amassed a season-high 13 points for the RedHawks, while Haley Robertson also tallied a season-high 10 points. Hencke was the other RedHawk in double figures for scoring with 11 points.
Duquesne had to players score over 20 points, led by Alex Gensler's 23 points. Wumi Agunbaide posted 21 points and 16 rebounds for the Dukes.
Miami returns to action at noon on Saturday, Nov. 27, hosting Stetson.
