- Freshman guard Quinten Rollins, freshman guard/forward Josh Sewell, freshman forward Jon Harris, redshirt freshman Drew McGhee, and junior guard Chris McHenry all made their RedHawk debuts Friday night.
- Freshman guard Quinten Rollins was the first true freshman to start a season opener for the RedHawks since 2003-2004.
- Allen Roberts led the RedHawks in points with 20. That surpassed his previous career high of 14. He shot a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc.
- The top returning Miami scorers from last season, Julian Mavunga and Nick Winbush, were held to two points apiece in the first half. However, both bounced back for big performances overall. Mavunga had 14 points and 11 rebounds while Winbush put up 7 points with 11 boards. Mavunga had double figures in rebounds for the ninth time in his career and his seventh career double-double.
- After the win Friday night over Towson, Miami now has a 54-12 mark all-time when opening the season at home and a 71-35 record in season openers overall.
- With his 20 first half minutes alone, Orlando Williams surpassed his previous career high of 19 minutes in a game. Williams played the first 30 minutes and 11 seconds to start the game and ended the night with 36 minutes. Vince Legarza recorded a career high in points (4), rebounds (3), and minutes (9).
