Miami Swims Past Buffalo 193.5-106.5

BUFFALO, NY -- Miami women's swimming and diving led from start to finish, taking first in 14 of the meet's 16 events, in a 193.5-106.5 win over Buffalo Saturday afternoon at Buffalo's Alumni Arena Natatorium.
The RedHawks opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, touching the wall more that a second ahead of the second place Buffalo team. Sophomores Leah Thornton and Bekka Westrick, senior Kelsey Vehr and junior Chelsey Bruington combined to finish in a time of 1:45.90.
Bruington went on to win the 200- and 500-yard freestyles in times of 1:53.65 and 5:08.22, respectively. Thornton later won the 100-yard backstroke (57.44) and 200-yard backstroke (2:06.32).
Other multi-event winners for the RedHawks were Westrick in the 50-yard freestyle (23.92) and 100-yard butterfly (56.50), senior Megan Brunn in the 200-yard IM (2:08.07) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:19.71) and Freshman Nikki Craft in the one-meter and three-meter dives (264.45 and 284.77, respectively).
