Senior guard Kenny Hayes had 20 points against the Chippewas, his fourth 20-point scoring effort of the season and 11th of his Miami career.
Central Michigan's 51 points were a season-low by a Miami opponent this season.
Miami used a 10-0 run midway through the first half to take an 18-12 lead. Junior forward Nick Winbush accounted for seven of the RedHawks' points during the flurry. He finished with 13 points, his third-straight double-figure scoring effort.
Miami, which leads the league in blocked shots at 4.67 per game in MAC play, recorded 4 blocked shots against the Chippewas. Senior center Adam Fletcher tallied two blocked shots, while junior forward Nick Winbush and sophomore forward/center Julian Mavunga added one each.
As a team, Miami had eight steals, which ties a season high. The RedHawks also amassed eight steals against Nicholls State. Sophomore forward/center Julian Mavunga and senior guard Kenny Hayes each had two, while freshman guard Allen Roberts, junior forward Nick Winbush, junior guard/forward Antonio Ballard and junior guards Rodney Haddix II added one apiece.
Miami continued its series of strong second half performances. The 41 points scored in the second half nearly doubled the RedHawks' 23-point first half effort. It was their fourth-highest second half point total of the season and the third time in the last five games the RedHawks have scored over 40 in a half.
The victory over the Chippewas was the 13th straight time the RedHawks have defeated Central Michigan at home. The Chippewas last win in Oxford came in 1991.
