Miami Sophomore Forward Julian Mavunga
On difference in performances at home compared to on the road: "I just think that there's a little bit of a barrier that we have to find a way to break. At home we're focused and playing well, but we haven't translated those performances on the road. I think we're getting closer, but we have to find a way to get one on the road if we want to think about winning the league."
On early-season schedule: "You look at our schedule and every game was a fight; every game was a grind. We didn't schedule any off-nights against a Division II or Division III team. I think as we keep moving in the season, those early games are going to really start helping us."
Miami Junior Forward Nick Winbush
On playing versus a zone defense: "We were playing an overload, so it got really involved with the high post and the low post. We just kept the ball moving between those two points and it opened up some looks for us."
Miami Senior Guard Kenny Hayes
On halftime adjustments: "Coach will say some stuff and make some changes but a lot of it is just us coming together as a team and saying that we have to get it going. He'll remind us of the stuff we talked about pre-game, but from there we have to go out and take care of our business."
Miami Head Coach Charlie Coles
"The score didn't reflect it but we played better in the first half than we have in the last few games. I thought the turning point of the game was our defensive stop going into halftime where they didn't even get a shot off. That was huge."
"We knew it was going to be a slow game; we were each going to run about 28 seconds off the clock before we shot, but we had to be there defensively. And we were."
"Julian Mavunga had a good game today. He didn't have it going offensively, but he pulled down 11 rebounds and I don't think he could have done that even seven games ago. He's proving to be a fun guy to coach. He's got a funny nature, but I've found out that's just who he is. I've also found out that he's listening."
On Nick Winbush's performance: "It's my responsibility to get him more shots. It's his responsibility to knock them down when he gets those shots."
